It was the turn of Ugoezes' of Ideato South Local Government to host the general meeting of Orlu Zonal Ugoezes' and as usual, they put in a show. This year's event was special in every sense because it was hosted in the Local Government Area of the Imo First Lady, Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodinma. The hosting was held at the Local Government Council office with the Counsel Chairman Chief Chukwuma Ikeaka as the Chief host.
The event which is rotatory, where all the wives of the traditional rulers -Ugoezes', meet to discuss issues relating to Women and every other concerns of the society, was unique this year with the wife of Imo State Governor as the special guest of Honor. Speaking at the event, the first lady who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, lady Nkechinyere Ugwu thanked the Ugoezes' for a successful hosting of the event and beseeched them, as the eyes and appendages of the women in the State, to always continue to be an example to all the women in their communities. She assured the Kings' wives that the era where tradition is spat upon is gone, that the tenets of the culture and tradition that bind them together would be highly respected in Uzodimma administration.
"You are our mothers, sisters, wives, and we depend on you to give our Ezes, your husbands wise counsel that would lead to peace, cooperation and unity amongst the Ezes and their communities", Ugwu advised. She told the Queens that the First lady has thier interest at heart, both in Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri zones and will continue to support their activities while carrying them along in her community programs. The commissioner thanked them for their continued support of the 3R Government of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The traditional ruler of Umuakam Autonomous Community, HRH Eze P.E. Ewuzie, (nchancha agu), Akamigbo 3 of Umuakam, was at hand with HRH Eze Chris Obieshi of Nchoke Autonomous Community of Ideato south to break the traditional kolanuts. As it was the custom, he used the kolanut as a contact to pray for Imo First Lady, the Governor of the State, HE, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the commissioner, the State and its constituents. Eze nchancha Agu, used the opportunity to specifically commend the governor for the massive road constructions going on in the State and reminded the gathering the reason why Governor Hope Uzodimma succeeded and has been succeeding against the odds. "His name symbolises hope for the people and the State; and for this and the fact that he is well positioned and ready to work for the people, nothing was going to stop him from achieving his good intents for the State and people", he intoned.
The Eze sent greetings through the Honorable commissioner to Her Excellency, Barrister Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma for the superb job she has been doing to improve the lives of Women, Children and Vulnerable Groups in the State. "You are not the typical political noise makers who blow their trumpet at every slight job done; since there is no way a lit candle can be hidden in the dark, your good work is a shinning light for all of us to see." Eze Nchancha said of Imo First Lady. He thanked Imo Governor and First lady, for the appointment of Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu as a commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, which he termed a square peg in a square hole.
The Queens were overjoyed as they sang and danced extolling the first lady while praying that God will continue to give her wisdom to help her husband, the Governor in continued improvement of the lot of Imo citizens.
TO GOD BE ALL GLORY.
