Gov. Hope Uzodimma has reiterated the commitment of his administration to bring Government closer to the ordinary people.
In a well attended third edition of Imo stakeholders meeting held yesterday in Owerri, Gov. Uzodimma assured that development centers across the 27 Local Government Area councils of Imo State would be revived so as to make the people feel the impact of Government.
Gov. Uzodimma expressed regret that economic activities are centered only in urban areas thereby, turning a greater number of stakeholders in the rural communities into marginal players.
According Gov. Hope Uzodimma, realization of the need to turn the Local Government into the engine room of integrative development initiative, informed the decision of his administration to revive development centers across the State.
Gov. Uzodimma further disclosed that development centers would operate in line with their nomenclature, working together with autonomous communities and identifying their peculiar development needs.
"This would create a sense of belonging and the people would begin to feel the impact of Government in real sense, I made it clear during the Local Government stakeholders' visits to Government House recently that henceforth, the people would determine who leads them into the local government administration based on popular will and acceptance".
To this end, taking power back to the people would be my greatest achievement , Gov. Uzodimma assures.
