TRACKING THE 3R REHABILITATION OF IMO STATE CIVIL SERVICE

The engine room of every government remains the Civil Service and just like the engine of a vehicle, when left unserviced it would not serve optimally. It was on this premise that His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma deemed it fit to start the Shared Prosperity mission with a reform in the State Civil Service.

After a holistic audit and review of the bureaucratic system in civil service, several maladministration and fraudulent activities were uncovered. The 3R Government approached these by first providing a conducive working environment with renovation of the structure and restorations of constant power supply. More ministries were created to meet modern needs.

Then comes the welfare of the Staff with the purchase and provision of staff buses to convey staff to and fro work; this has eased employee stress. His Excellency, in line with statutory requirements, purchased official cars for Permanent Secretaries and ensured that Promotion Examinations were conducted; which led to the promotion of 11 new Permanent Secretaries, on merit, as against the old practice of "ima mmadu".

These reforms couldn't have been complete without the automation of the Salary and Benefits payment to staff members. The migration which bared open the Payroll System fraud in the State, has resulted in saving of billions of Naira for the State; with effective and prompt payment of salaries.

The 3R Government introduced technology and digital practices in the operation of the State Civil Service as a measure to increase productivity for Imo State and her people.
