I suspected it to play out. Just few days ago, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma revealed that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Mohammadu Buhari shall again commission infrastructures in Imo State, amongst them are these very important economic-aiding roads – Owerri/Orlu and Owerri/Okigwe, upon their completion!
Presently, Imo State is fast-developing and has become very important to nations with Nigeria leading on the chart. The truth of the matter is that there is a novel and important economic position Imo State now enjoys nationally and beyond, under Governor Hope Uzodimma, which he achieved in the course of pursuing his shared prosperity goal.
We could recall, after this present Governor was inaugurated to preside over the affairs of the State 2 years ago, in the presence of captains of industries and key players of economic activities in Africa and the globe, he announced that the State, its government and people are willing to receive investors into the State!
According to the Governor, Imo State will welcome investors who are interested and willing to invest in the State and drive economic prosperity here. Fantastic!
It was a game-changer and singular announcement that resurrected the dead confidence of many willing investors who saw Imo State's potentials but were discouraged in the past by hostile economic activities and policies put in place by past administrations in Imo State.
The dead confidence of local and foreign investors have been resurrected in Imo as due government processes are now being followed in dealing with investors and carrying out the business of governance. For example, this present Governor doesn't allocate lands to investors without due process like we saw in the past where what solely qualified people to be allocated lands by the State was their family ties with a sitting Governor! It is no longer the case presently, under Governor Hope Uzodimma.
With the massive construction of infrastructures already undertaken under the present Governor and many ongoing while more have been announced to be kick-started, the message from Governor Hope Uzodimma is clear to nations – "We are intentional about our progress as a State". This message of progress is in line with the shared prosperity goal of the State being pursued through the Governor's 3R Agenda of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery.
Nations' interests expressed by investors have grown in the past one year for Imo State. With the current attention being given to Imo State by local and foreign investors to participate in the State’s economic activities, the transformation already being witnessed in Imo State under this present Governor will be multiplied.
There's no doubt that Imo State is in a hurry to develop and grow. Equally, the man piloting the affairs of the State understands it. He has given the State a new look on infrastructures and has always shown economic friendly gestures. A good signal that attracts growth and development. This is positive! Imo is enviable.
For many of us, we are seeing a State heading to more development and growth. Yes, challenges are there. We know they are part of life. Challenges are not the absence of success and progress. Amidst the challenges we face today and tomorrow, this State is soaring to greatness and we will continue to surmount our challenges and achieve our successes as a State. Help us Lord.
