The Chairperson of Ikeduru local Government Area, Lolo Cindy Tony Jude Iwuamadi has kicked off the oral polio vaccination in Ikeduru, while commending the wife of the Governor, Barr. Mrs. Chioma Uzodinma for her efforts towards the success of the program.
The exercise which took place at the Council Secretariat Iho had in attendance the IMC Chairman, Chief Tony Jude Iwuamadi, some IMC members and Health workers in the council as well as school children under the age bracket of zero to five years.
Lolo Iwuamadi emphasized the importance of the program to the health of children in the area. She charged the health workers to ensure that the coverage target is achieved and reassured the general public of the safety of the vaccines.
She stated that the vaccination is free and lauded the efforts of health workers in Ikeduru in ensuring that health programs are fully implemented in the area.
In his brief remarks, the IMC Chairman, Chief Tony Jude Iwuamadi thanked all who contributed to the successful kick off the vaccination program and assured the health workers of the cooperation of the council in achieving their targets as well as their safety throughout the exercise.
He encouraged parents and guardians to make their wards available for the vaccination in view of the inherent benefits.
Lolo Cindy Iwuamadi used the occassion to distribute baby-care materials to nursing mothers and children. Some of the items distributed include, Diapers, Soap, Cream, Baby oil, Powder, Plates and feeding tubes.
