The Leadership of the All progressive Congress in Owerri Municipal , today held a last minute meeting with ward Aspirants and delegates , for the 31st July Congress of the party scheduled to hold across the 11 wards in Owerri Municipal .
Speaking on behalf of the Apex Leadership of the party at the meeting which took place at the IIC center Owerri , the Apex Leader of Owerri Municipal APC and GM IMO Entraco , Hon. McDonald Ebere (PhD) , said the essence of the meeting is to give last minute sensitization to members who are aspiring to take up political positions at the ward level . Hon. MacDonald explained that purchase of forms is not a guarantee that one will participate in the election , as the party have set up a verification committee to ensure that candidates who meet up with the requirements for the congress participate as those who didn't are disqualified .
The Apex Leader went further to opine that he takes confidence in the fact those that'll emerge as winners are those who will good ambassadors of the party and propagate the mission and vision of not only the party the APC , but will as well help in actualizing the states' ideology of Shared Prosperity.
Hon. MacDonald at the epilogue of his speech , wished all the Aspirants and delegates well in the coming congress .
Chairman of Owerri Municipal APC and convener of the gathering , Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim said that part of the reason for the gathering is to ;
1) Bring to members notice that the party's constituted congress electoral committee are ready. That they election will go on as scheduled by the national chairman.
2) Push members of the party to go out there more get more people to join the APC political flock
3) Expose the already established notion that there's no faction in Owerrri Municipal APC , but rather a robust Leadership led by Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim and that any other perceived faction remains perpetually unrecognized and any one found jumping ship is disqualified from the election and removed permanently from the party.
4)For the final time warn aspirants , delegates and their supporters to eschew all forms of violence and be at peace with one another with a positive mind set .
Hon. Onyekachi said he'll do all he can to ensure that the whole event is goes smoothly , without a hitch as his integrity will put be put into question.
The Director of Operations (IMO Entraco) Sir . Law Okoye and the APC state welfare officer Hon. Ada Ekekwe et al reiterated their Loyalty , submission to the will and political design of the party .
Highlight of the event , was the welcoming of more than 150 opposition members into the APC family .
Welcoming them into the party , Apex Leader of Owerri Municipal APC , Hon. MacDonald Ebere warned the new members not to get distracted but be rest assured that they're at the right place and party .
Those who attended the meeting are former SA's , SSA's , Captains of industries both indigenes and non indigenes alike especially those from the Hausa and Yoruba community and even members from the APC in diaspora .
