The colourful event which has assumed major discourse in Owerri was witnessed by so many erudite scholars, highly respected traditional rulers in the state, captains of industries, top government officials and political heavy weights, led by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku who represented the Governor, HE, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Other dignitaries are Bar. CMC Onuoha, former Minority Leader IMHA, the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Chief Charles Orie, MD/CEO ISOPADEC (the chief launcher) who was represented by two illustrious sons of Ohaji Egbema, Hon. Chief Gedion Mefor ( Orife-Orife) and Chief Golden Nwokeoma. Amongst the highly respected traditional rulers that graced the acassion are HRM, Eze Dr. E.C Okeke, Chairman Imo State Traditional Institution and community policing, HRH, Eze Prof Dele Odigbo ( Igwe of Nkwesi Kingdom) Board Chairman of ISOPADEC, HRH, Eze Emmanuel Assor, Former NDDC commissioner and the National secretary of TRIPCOM, HRH, Eze Oliver Ohanwe, Gburugburu 1 of Ihim Aut. Community.
Also present at the glamorous event includes Dr. Clifford Nwagu, the book reviewer, Dr. Fidel Onyeneke, High chief Analyn Nwaneri, Eze-Elect of umuoronjo aut. community of Owerri municipal council, Hon chief John Donald Ikegwuruka, former SSA to the governor of imo State on artisans, Hon. Davison Ogbuji, commissioner for youth affairs, ISOPADEC, so many captians of industries, heads of security agencies, clergymen, UNN Alumni members etc.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku, who represented Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma at the event said that the galaxy of crème de la crème of the society at the occasion points to the fact that Chief Dr. Goddy Obodo is a very heard-working man and the present administration in Imo State is very happy with his superlative records of achievement and his performance at Adapalm Nig Ltd, where he's currently serving as the GM. He noted that the book written by Goddy Obodo, titled Youth Entrepreneurship in Nigeria came at the appropriate time because, the issue of Youth Empowerment is topmost in the agenda of the present administration of Senator Hope Uzodimma. To empower Imo youths to become self reliant is the priority of this Government, he reiterated.
Prof. Njoku also stressed that Dr Obodo has through this book provided basic information for our teaming unemployed youths to look inwards, embrace entrepreneurship and become employers of labour.
The Deputy Governor who conveyed the Governor's felicitation to Hon. Chief Dr Goddy Esom Obodo, used the occasion to disclose the determination of the state government to touch the lives of the people through well structured youths and women empowerment programmes.
Earlier in his welcome address, the author, Hon. Chief Goddy Esom Obodo, PhD, who couldn't hide his happy mood, expressed great delight at the galaxy of dignitaries who gathered to celebrate his academic work, especially, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma and the Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku who stand-in for the governor and other high profile state functionaries including traditional rulers and business tycoons.
The former law maker, who is the General Manager of Adapalm Nig. Ltd explained that he was inspired to write this book, on seeing the zeal and political will demonstrated by His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma in tackling youths unemployment and insecurity in imo State. According to him, he decided to compliment the Governor's vision on youth empowerment by putting together this book to equip the youths with the basic knowledge of entrepreneurship.The information presented in this book will help to take our youths off the streets making our nation, particularly imo state, safe and prosperous.
Telling more about his book, Dr. Obodo said, Youth Entrepreneurship when taught in schools will prepare the minds of students for a self employment on graduation unlike hoping for white collar job.
