"I am happy you voted for a chairman with a Ph.D,...I don't want a mumu as chairman just because he is loyal to me" ~ Governor Hope Uzodimma.
"You may have come with Hope Uzodimma from the trenches, you may have been with the former governor, you may have been in Abuja faction - All I have told the chairman to do is to please open your door for everybody to come in - Nobody came first - nobody came second - we all came at the same time " ~ Uzodimma.
His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State today joined other APC party faithfuls for the stakeholders meeting of the party held at the APC party secretariat in Owerri.
Governor Uzodimma used the occasion to inform party members that nobody will be left behind in the scheme of things. As the Governor stated, "There is none of you who worked for this party yesterday, today and who will work for the party tomorrow that will not be rewarded and recognised". Continuing he stated that the APC have come to stay in Imo State, " Our party have come to stay, we already occupy the political space in Imo state, no wonder that those who don't want us to succeed now go across the state hiring bandits, bombing police stations, killing human beings and attacking innocent people".
Speaking further, Governor Uzodimma stated that
"whoever that sheds blood will not go unpunished - You may kill today and think you have gotten away with it because police did not catch you, but know that the real police is almighty God and he must catch you - we will do our best as human beings to provide the security human beings can provide - we will also pray to the owner of the supreme security to intervene on our behalf".
"I am almost certain that with our leadership plans for the state, - if we have uninterrupted one year, - what you'll see will marvel you - because we need the enabling environment to implement our programs" the Governor said.
His Excellency informed the gathering that he has not constituted all the boards, and neither has all the appointments being completed. " A politician must be active - it does not matter how much he makes, but a politician must be given sense of recognition - he must be given a position in the government he struggle to form - all they are doing is looking for a way to blackmail the government that those who worked for me are roaming the streets - nobody will roam the streets - it is just that there are one interference after the other - when you are loyal to the party, the party will also be loyal to you - that is reciprocity".
He reminded members that there are no divisions in APC Imo State
He said, " You may have come with Hope Uzodimma from the trenches, you may have been with the former governor, you may have been in Abuja faction - All I have told the chairman to do is to please open your door for everybody to come in. Nobody came first - nobody came second - we all came at the same time - If you are in the National Assembly or House of Assembly, - if you push out yourself from the party, that is your business - what we will not do is to sit down here and give blind support to a man or woman we don't see. - As long as you believe in the party and we are convinced that if you are given position you will use the position to enhance the fortunes of the party, we will give you support. But if you are rigmaroling and hiring people to come and kill in Imo State to intimidate us to give you a second opportunity, you cannot intimidate us"
The Governor cautioned those who take his silence for granted saying, "Because I don't talk does not mean that I'm a fool - if I don't talk, it does not mean that I will put behind, those who are suffering for the party, - who want the party to live, and then encourage and put in front those who want the party to die"
Amid applause, Governor Uzodimma continued, "This place is not a church where you give food first to sinners before they are converted - here once you are converted you eat first. You eat first before the sinners - we will not allow sinners to eat here first before those you are converted".
"Let me make this statement, you must have worked for the party before - the fact that you are not re-elected should not remove you from your commitment and position in the party - all I say is that in politics you serve in different capacities - maybe today as a secretary, but who knows tomorrow - you may be chairman of a Board somewhere else.
Concluding, the Governor reiterated that, " the government belongs to the party - the party does not belong to the government - I am happy you voted for a chairman with a PhD. I don't want a mumu as chairman just because he is loyal to me".
