It was a successful inauguration of the new executives of National Council for women Society on May 25, 2021 at Rento Hotels Owerri.
Addressing the delegates drawn from the 3 zones of the state, who presented their consensus candidates for the various positions in the executive council, the national president of the National Council for Women Societies, NCWS, Chief Mrs Gloria Laraba Shoda, called on elderly experienced women to take back seats and allow younger women to join the association, while they play advisory roles and mentor them to take over when they exit the scene. While inaugurating the new executives, she urged them to work together in raising the society to an enviable position.
The wife of the Governor, Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodimma, gave the admonition to the newly inaugurated state executives of the state chapter of the National Council for Women Societies NCWS during the just concluded 2021 convention in Owerri on Tuesday. The Imo Governor's wife who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, reminded the women of the indispensable roles they play in the family and society, and enjoined them to work with one another to change the narratives about women. She congratulated the new executives of NCWS and assured them of Her Excellency' support, and partnership in all programmes that will positively benefit the womenfolk.
Also, in her address, the NCWS national secretary, Chief Mrs Cheryl Amonu, urged the incoming team to ensure that they are valuable assets to the state and nation. Others who spoke and encouraged the women were, Chief Mrs. Ifeoma Ndiukwu, IMC Chairperson Orlu LGA, Comrade Safeya Ogoh, NCWS National assistant PRO and the outgoing NCWS State President, Mrs Ijeoma Udensi, amongst others.
