The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Barr. Kennedy Ibeh on 18th February 2022, honoured Late Honourable Barr. Dan Nwagwu's family by appointing his first son as Special Assistant to the Speaker Imo State House of Assembly.
Mr. Speaker also appointed his immediate predecessor Hon. Chief Celestine Ngaobiwu as an Adviser in his office.
It is recalled that Honourables Dan Nwagwu and Hon. Ngaobiwu are the predecessors of Mr. Speaker in the representation of Obowo State Constituency. Regrettably, shortly after his service in the House, Hon. Dan Nwagwu was kidnapped and never seen till date. This is a most painful reality that will live with the history of Obowo State Constituency forever.
Today, Mr. Speaker revives the political spirit in the Nwagwu family by this sensitive gesture.
Hon. Ngaobiwu was the second to represent Obowo State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2015 when he chose to rather run for Federal House of Representatives but unfortunately lost in the primaries of his then Party.
In their reactions, Hon. Dan Nwagwu's son, Mr. Ugochukwu expressed deep shock and utmost gratitude to the Speaker for remembering to honor their late father especially at a time when no one, more particularly his late father's political associates and beneficiaries forgot and abandoned them. According to the young graduate of Political Science, the appointment is one not to be taken for granted as it offers the Dan Nwagwu's family a reassuring hope that their late father is not forgotten.
Similarly, the immediate past Honorable Member, Chief Ngaobiwu expressed great delight in the unprecedented gesture of the Rt. Hon. Speaker. He assured Mr. Speaker of his continued support in enauring he leadership as Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly is reckoned successful.
