Yesterday, the 28th August, 2022, Chief Kenneth C Iheonunekwu(Dim 1 of Umudim), the Special Adviser to CP DAN OKORO (RTD), celebrated Iri ji Mbaise (New Yam Cultural Festival) in his Umudim Aronta Mbutu Country home were over 400women across the Eight Villages that made up Mbutu Community received quality wrappers.
The festival witnessed the presence of notable Mbutu Traditional Rulers and Political actors ranging from; HRH Eze D O Nwaigwe, HRH Eze Dr. Emma Nwaimo, Oke Nze & Lolo Onyeneri Abiriwa ( Ochualiri Mbutu) who anchored the event Traditionally, High Chief Nwakaibeya, Dr Iyke Njoku,Aboh Mbaise LGA APC Apex Leader, Sir and Lady Tony Awusaku, APC Aboh Mbaise LGA Chairman, Engr Chibueze Ogbonna, APC Aboh Mbaise LGA vice Chairman, Chief Ogu Charles, CampHope Coordinator, Hon Thaddeus Eronefu, Mbutu Ward APC Chairman, Hon Eva Ashiegbu(ezeube) SA to Aboh Mbaise State Constituency House Member, Hon. Eddy Obinna, Mr Cyriacus Nwachukwu, Mbutu Ward APC Secretary and so many other Dignitaries in attendance.
HRH Eze D. O Nwaigwe while addressing the audience on behalf of Ndi Eze Mbutu, thanked God Almighty for His bountiful harvest given to Chief Kenneth Iheonunekwu and to Ndi Mbutu, and Mbaise at large. He went further to express his satisfaction over the decision of Chief Kenneth to celebrate Iri ji Mbaise in a grand style, "you have shown that you know the importance of mothers, and you decided to give them wrapper to mark your Iri ji celebration, is a thing of joy, God bless you". He further charged the people, to go back to Agricultural practices which is our culture as he stressed that he is not a fan of those women who go to the market to buy cocoyam, yam, garden egg and other agricultural products we are known to be the producers from the ancient.
Dr Iyke Njoku while speaking, appreciated Chief Ken for not only giving the people yam to eat, rather also shared wrappers to over 400 women in Mbutu. "Posterity will remember you for good" he added. The Scientist Laboratory Technician and an Astute Politician, Dr Iyke, used the medium to educate the people to always differentiate culture from politics, that culture is our heritage,we should exhibit it jealously and not to allow politics to disorganize any culture inherited from our fathers.
The women in their numbers, chanted in excitement while praying that God will bless the giver and grant him his good heart desires.
Chief Kenneth C Iheonunekwu thanked his guests and those who were unable to come present for honoring his invitation and for showing concern on his event as he used the opportunity to hand Mr Nwaigwe Livinus who decided to decamp from APGA to APC over to the APC Party leaders and members for official declaration into the All Progressive Congress, APC, after which, he was welcomed to the family of All Progressive Congress, APC.
