Not only Nigerians but the world at large today celebrate a leader, a world class banker (Golden Boy of Zenith), an icon and the incoming Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima. It was on this day 56 year ago (September 2, 1966) that a destiny child was born whom the entire country now look up to as a perfect match (Vice President) for the new democratic administration to take charge come May 29, 2023.
Sometimes, describing and celebrating some individuals on their special days becomes so difficult not because one does not know what to say but because such individual has created and walked many paths in life that one cannot explore all. These are rare individuals that touches and impacts many lives positively thereby creating a path that history and posterity would never forget in a hurry. These special individuals sometimes do not impact lives alone but also the society they found themselves. One of such special and privileged individual is *Senator Kashim Shettima* the former governor of Borno State.
Borno State in the news in the past few years has been a challenging one in term of security. One would have thought no life or infrastructure would be standing in the state by now but many thanks to the leadership of Senator Kashim Shettima as governor who gave the state an unequal and innovative leadership. In the midst of insecurity, Gov. Senator Kashim Shettima built world class infrastructures and rebuilt many burnt and destroyed ones. He built primary and secondary schools with standard and facilities similar to those in some tertiary institutions in Nigeria. He prioritised healthcare facilities with affordability to every citizen in the state. With many IDP scattered across the state, Senator Kashim Shettima as governor went down to the nooks and crannies to deliver good goverance leaving no one out. He mobilised community leaders and every citizen into taking charge of the security of their respective localities, always leading from the front. Though a Muslim, Christians and Christianity leaders were at peace with him for his equity, fairness and justices to all.
Antecedents and records are there to showcase and celebrate the man, Senator Kashim Shettima as a great achiever, a pathfinder, a unifier, a lecturer, an innovator, an icon and above all, a total leader. At 56, Nigeria is blessed to have someone like Senator Kashim Shettima as incoming Vice President judging from his experiences and his records as a leader who left no stone unturned in providing leadership in every sector of his state as a template for good governance. Senator Kashim Shettima vicing Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidency is the best option Nigeria has at this period of our nationhood.

On your birthday Sir, I wish you many more fruitful years ahead in good health and sound mind so as to continue your services and contributions to the development of our dear nation, Nigeria.
