HON MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT, MALLAM BALARABE ABASS LAWAL'S PUSH FOR EXECUTIVE ORDER TO BAN EXPORT OF REPTILES AND WOOD, A DECEITFUL GARB TO COVER HIS ECONOMIC SABOTAGE OF PRESIDENT TINUBU'S ECONOMIC POLICY:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, should be wary of and reject in its entirety, the Executive Order being presented to him for approval by the Honourable Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal, to ban the export of Reptiles and Wood.
This Executive Order hurriedly prepared by the said Minister is against the economic diversification, foreign exchange earning, job creation and food security policies of Mr President and targeted at demarketing President Tinubu and his Government before the Nigerian and International business community.
The aforementioned businesses are regulated by the world body, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) headquartered in Geneva Switzerland. Both the Cites Convention which Nigeria is a signatory to, and our local Legislation supports the regulated trade in both Wood and Reptiles without any threat to our environment and Nigerian Businessmen in the industry has always complied with the Convention and our Legislation, until Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal became the Honourable Minister of Environment and began the economic war with impunity against the South of Nigeria and sabotage of President Tinubu’s Economic Agenda on the diversification of the economy, foreign exchange earning, job creation, food security and Ease of Doing Business. Our neighbouring countries of Benin Republic, Cameroon, Togo, Ghana, Cote & D'Ivoire, etc., are beneficiaries of the economic prosperity provided by the aforementioned businesses.
Hon Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal wants to hide under the said Executive Order to cover his sabotage of Mr President, his Government and Policies. It is self serving and targeted at the legitimate economic livelihoods and businesses of the people from the Southern Nigeria, which he boasted he was going to shut down. His Permanent Secretary, Mallam Mahmud Adam Kambari is in cahoots with him in this Voyage of economic sabotage.
It should be noted that since Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal became the Minister of Environment, he has clamped down on genuine businesses of Reptiles and Wood Exporters, refusing to issue already approved and paid for Cites and other Permits needed for the seamless conduct of these businesses without any justification and legal backing, other than economic war against the legitimate businesses of people from Southern Nigeria.
Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal's resolve of sabotaging the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Government and Economic Policies from within, did not come to us as a surprise, going by his record of service and loyalty. He was Mallam Nasir El-Rufai's aide when he was Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) Director General in 1999, was his Chief of Staff as FCT Minister from 2003 to 2007 and served as the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government (SSG) under Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as Governor from 2015 to 2023.
We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is a lover of Nigeria and working to birth a renewed and economically prosperous Nigeria to jettison the self serving, callous, anti-government and anti-Nigeria Executive Order put together by the Honourable Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal. The said order is at variance with his economic rennaisance policy. We equally call on the Distinguished members of the National Assembly to throw away the obnoxious, anti-people and business killing Executive Order if it comes to them.
All hands must be on deck to salvage Nigeria from the hands of the likes of the Honourable Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal and his Permanent Secretary, Mallam Mahmud Adam Kambari, whose mission is unhealthy for the legitimate Nigerian and International Business Community and our Socio-Economic Prosperity.
Mallam Balarabe Abass Lawal by his antecedent is not fit and proper to serve in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Government in any capacity at all. He is an enemy within.
