Today, the Member representing Ikwo/Ezza-South at the federal House of Representatives, Abuja, Hon Comrade Chinedu Ogah, OON today stormed the ancestral home of Ikwo Nnoyo to honour the invitation of Ekpelu (the eldest clan in Ikwo Local Government Area).
Hon Ogah was welcomed by the Chief host, His Royal Highness, Eze Albert Opoke in his palace at Ekpelu in Ikwo LGA.
While speaking on behalf of the elders, the traditional ruler expressed happiness over the leadership qualities of Hon Ogah. He reminded him that his benevolence would remain in the sands of time, recounting that all the federal jobs and empowerment so far done by the lawmaker is unprecedented in the history of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal constituency. He spoke at length while addressing the community's challenges and lamented furiously over the level of backwardness and absence of development in Ekpelu especially in the area of education and electricity.
One of the elders lamented thus, "we have no school for our children and this has remained a great challenge to us, to the extent that immediately our wards finish primary school, they travel to the cities to hawk for their daily bread and nothing more. They don't think about the future and this has brought setback to the whole community. Even our leaders don't care about us. Our Honourable Ogah, this is irksome! Come to our rescue. We have no electricity and other infrastructure, too".
Responding to their request and plight, the people's leader, Comrade Ogah promised to start the construction of the school from Monday 31st of 2021. He immediately constituted the building committee and gave them the sum of N500,000 for the workmanship of the project while the whole materials, the rod, the stone, the sand and the zinc are to be provided by him. Also, he promised to enhance the connection of their electricity between this May 2021 and April 2022.
He equally urged the community to support the administration of His Excellency, Chief Engr. David Nweze Umahi, FNATE, FNSE for giving a facelift to Ebonyi State and for ensuring peaceful coexistence in the state.
Hon. Ogah however, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to meet with the elders of Ekpelu in an organized manners after his swearing in ceremony. He wished them well and hugged them with undisclosed cash.
