THE SABKE DAM IN KATSINA STATE IS ALMOST READY!

Do you know that on the 28th of May 2018, the PMB administration flagged off the Sabke irrigation dam in Katsina State 20 years after it was initiated and started by the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) in 1998 but which was subsequently abandoned by succeeding administrations?

Incidentally, President Muhammadu Buhari was the Executive Chairman of the PTF when the project was designed and started, and it apparently looks like fate has shouldered him with the responsibility of doing this very important project, which will soon be completed and commissioned for public use.

The Sabke Dam is designed as a water treatment plant with the capacity to provide 4,372 cubic meters (one million gallons) of water per day to Daura town and environs in addition to providing farmers with enough water for their dry season farming. It therefore goes without saying that this project will boost agricultural activities as well as provide jobs for hundreds of youths in the communities around it, apart from the potable water it will provide for all the residents.

Yes, Nigeria is on track!
