SENATOR ADAMU SET TO WITHDRAW HIS AMBITION FOR ALMAKURA

 

Thursday 22 February, has been a hectic day for APC Northern Governors Forum, this is because the forum had engaged Senator Abdullahi Adamu on the need to withdraw his APC Chairmanship ambition for Senator Tanko Almakura.

The close door meeting of the Governors which took place at the Nasarawa State liaison Office in Abuja, had Senator Adamu in attendance.

Source very close to one of the Governor said the purpose of the meeting was to make a passionate appealed to Senator Abdullahi Adamu to stepdown for Senator Almakura who is the leading candidate among the aspirants. 

The Governors acknowledged the contributions Senator Adamu accorded to the success of APC but insisted that Senator Almakura has already gotten the support of every party stakeholders hence the need for Abdullahi Adamu to dropped his ambition for the Unity of the North Central and the party in general.

The source maintained that the Governors told Adamu before his face that they are with the decision of the Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule for endorsing the Candidature of Senator Almakura, saying as governors of the North Central they all speaks with one voice when it come to issues of party decision.

The governors reiterated that they have high respect for Senator Adamu which necessitated the negotiation meeting to avoid any rancho capable of affecting the unity and success of the party.

In his response, Senator Abdullahi Adamu applauded the APC North Central Governors Forum for taken a bold steps towards resolving their aspiration between him and Senator Almakura but insisted that they both have political will to salvage the party from present predicament. 

He said he has every right to contest for the position of APC National Chairman as a bonifide member of the APC.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu  affirmed to the group that their request is a tasking one but promised to consult this supporters before communicating them back his stand on weather to stepdown for Almakura.
