Oh Lord, let this storm calm down and let this cup get over us. Oh Lord, arise and let the enemies be scatter. Let the killings, the shootings, the burnings and the attacks be stopped and let nomalncy return in our dear state. Let God command this wave to be still in Jesus name.
We know that there is time for every thing- time for war and time for peace, time for sorrow and time for joy, time for crisis and time for calmness. Having seen crisis, may calmness return in Imo and the entire South East. My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the midst of this melee. We will soon sing the songs of praise to God Almighty. Nothing last forever.
Actually, this is the time to show our humaness as Imolites. This is the time to show empathy and that milk of human kindness as a people created in the image and likeness of God. This is not the time to play petty politics or play to the gallery. Imo state, our common heritage is under threat. Our resolve to be our brother's keeper is being challenged. Our peace and unity are being threatened. Our patriotic spirit is being called upon. We are one people, one entity and one heritage. We are the Apple of God's eye. We are who God created to live together in peace and harmony. We are Imolites.
No one should glorify in the misfortune of another. We should not play life like a football. Nobody wins in the death of another. No trophy is won in killing another person. No politics is bigger than the life of another. No freedom is won on war front. Let the storm be calmed. Let the turbulence stop. Let peace reign in Imo
The man you kill or conspire to kill could be the man that will be of great assistance to you tomorrow. Ask yourself, what have you achieved in killing, shooting, maiming and attacking one another. You may live to regret your today's actions tomorrow. Politics and positions are ephemeral. The position you lost today could be achieved tomorrow. Life is short. Let the storm be calmed.
You hail and clap for those who maim and kill because of your political leaning but you forget that the person killed today could be your relative or somebody related to your friend. You also forget that by commending evil, you embolden perpetrators of evil. Remember, you cannot get any position by killing and no sane person throws a stone inside a market place. Let the storm calm down.
Imo our state is passing through a phase. Certainly, this cup will get over us for no matter how long the night might be, the day will surely come. The darkest period of the night is when the day is about to break. I mean, the time close to dawn. Our dawn is near. Imo is our own and God is in charge. Let us keep this Guns out of the reach of Children. Let the Storm be calmed.
Truthfully Yours, Nwamkpa Modestus is my name and I approved of this piece.
