Barr. Clement Asoluka has formally declared his intention to run for the Office of Chairman, Owerri West, under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
He formally made his intention to run for the office of the Chairman of Owerri West LGA by starting his declaration in his Ward - Emeabiam/Okolochi ward before the Ward executive and other notable leaders.
He later went to Avu/Oforola ward 01, Umuguma ward 02, Eziobodo ward 05, Amakohia Ubi/ Ohio/Ndegwu ward 09 and Irete/Orogwe ward 10, where he also addressed the party executives and leaders on his capacity to restore hope and turn around the economy of Owerri West with the aim of bringing necessary developments to our people.
He emphasized that he is fully prepared to take over the mantle of leadership in Owerri West LGA in order to bring good governance to the grassroots. He said that he decided to run after due consultations with his family and the leaders of the party.
He presented his seven points agenda to the executive and leaders in wards visited with the firm promise to end rancour and squabbles among the people of Owerri West. He went further to state that he will enthrone purposeful leadership in Owerri West.
Barr. Asoluka, a former Deputy Manager in Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and a trained Legal practitioner with over 20 years experience , explained that he would implement a superlative human capital development programmes that will help unlock the potentials of the youths of Owerri West including the men and women.
He further revealed that he will ensure constructive engagements and developmental strides in infrastructural development, if elected.
He added that he would ensure the improvement of Owerri West LGA Council's physical infrastructures and human resources with a strong pact to make it more efficient. In that vein, he assured that he would restore the lost glory of Owerri West LGA, which was a result of the long years of neglect, by giving the Council befitting offices and engage the services of horticulturists in the beautification of the Council's Headquarters.
He added that he would establish cottage industries and rehabilitate the truck C roads to ease transportation of people and agricultural proceeds from the villages to the urban cities. He emphasized that schools and health care facilities would be given the needed attention they deserve by leveraging on NYSC scheme.
He further said that he would ensure the empowerment of women and youths through the establishment of the requisite entrepreneurship training programmes and permanent end to the present system of using and dumping of party members by elected politicians. He lamented that politicians in power over the years have turned party members and electorate to what he described as "Bullion Vans" that are used and dumbed after attaining political victory. He promised to change that by putting in place a well thought out reward system to solving this lingering problems.
In the area of functional security, he was passionate to say that a leader without a good security programmes for his people has failed them because security of lives and properties are the primary duties of all elected executives. "Security is sacrosanct and has no short cut," he hammered strongly.
Finally, he promised to put all the basic machineries in place to reconcile all squabbles among APC leaders in the LGA and other leaders in Owerri West in general with a view to fostering unity, progress and prosperity in the party at the grassroots.
