The waves of support for the re-election bid of Governor Hope Uzodimma took a boost as women groups in Imo State drum support for his re-election. The women made up of market women, professional women bodies and many other women associations declared their support and solidarity for a governor whom has been women friendly and sensitive. They used the opportunity to show their appreciation to the governor for giving unprecedented recognitions to women in the state both politically and economically. They added that Governor Hope Uzodimma truly recognised the place of women as nation builders adding that they are also ready to reciprocate his kind gesture by voting overwhelmingly for the governor in the November 11, 2023 election.


According to the statistics from INEC, women made a huge percentage of registered voters and also has the highest percentage of collected Permanent Voters Card. It is therefore strategic that any candidate the women pitched their tent with should be confident of victory at the poll. The women praised the governor for the landmark opportunities he gave to women in the state in term of political appointments, economic empowerment and employments without being biased or discriminate against the women.


Associations of market women in the state gave special appreciation to the governor for creating an enabling and market friendly environment for traders in the state. They pointed out that while their contemporaries in other states are suffering the negative consequences of multiple taxation and harsh market environment, Imo State market women are making high profits as a result of no irrelevant frivolous taxation. They added that they cannot give opportunity to anyone to come and truncate the joy and happiness they are presently enjoying but rather ready to protect their business interest by making sure Governor Hope Uzodimma is re-elected.


Women professional bodies in the state, revealed that women in professional associations and organisations in the states are enjoying equal rights as the men counterparts. They recognised that through the support of the governor, many women are now heads of many professional bodies thereby exploring their God given leadership power as women to contribute to the development of their organizations and the state at large.
