LABOUR PARTY CANDIDATE, SENATOR ATHAN ACHONU RAN AWAY WITH PRIMARY HEALTH CARE CENTER CONTRACT MONEY AWARDED TO HIM BY OBASANJO FOR THE 774 LGA IN NIGERIA.
It is obvious that Labour Party candidate in the November 11, 2023 election in Imo State is not worthy to contest the gubernatorial election in the state. Senator Athan Achonu is presently unable to account for #57 billion contract awarded to him in 2006 by the Onasanjo administration for the construction of Primary Health Care Centers across the 774 local governments of the federation. The contract was awarded to him through his company, Mathan Nigeria Limited and till today, no single Primary Health Care Center was built. In fact, it wasn't a case of incomplete projects but that of outright non implementation. His thirsty for money mismanagement is insatiable and a man who should not be allowed to move near the treasury of Imo State for any reason.
While Senator Athan Achonu believes many have forgotten about the contract which is now about 17 years ago, the havock the non implementation of the project has caused many communities across the country is definitely unspeakable. Being the closest to the people, Primary Health Care Centers are the first point of call for medical attention for people at the grassroots. Especially for pregnant mothers, primary health care center provides affordable medical needs that helps take proper care of the antenatal routine of pregnant women. The nonavailability of this health care centers across the local governments in the country has sent many pregnant women to untimely deaths as a result of complications that could have been sorted out if proper antenatal procedure and programmes have been in place.
Investigating the seriousness of the damages the non implementation of the project has done to many communities and people across the country, a youth based group, The Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UFNYF) in the month of August petitioned the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC on the need to investigate and prosecute Senator Athan Achonu for his act of wickedness and cruelty to the destiny of millions of Nigerian especially those at the grassroots. The group in a news conference in Kaduna through the Publicity Secretary, Ali Muhammadu noted that Senator Athan Achonu has not only committed a grave crime against humanity but would have questions to answer from the Almighty God on every unwarranted death of pregnant women in the country as a result of his selfishness and greed. The group described Senator Athan Achonu as someone that should not even be seen on the street but to have been rotten and forgotten in jail by now.
It would be recalled that the time the contract was awarded to him was the same time he was seen being arrogant around with thugs. Also there were many media reports of him going from one club house to another using champagne to wash hands, wristwatches and doing all sorts. It was also the same time he was seen at every club and bar surrounded by young girls many whom at the time were even below the age of eighteen years. It was these irresponsible acts of him that later led to the National Economic Council terminating the contract. Up till today, the #57 billion has not been accounted for and it's the same money he's presently throwing around to run for gubernatorial election in Imo State believing that he would come to power to steal even more.
