On Monday, November 22nd 2021, at the state secretariat, Owerri, Lady Ogechi Ibeagi, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Education Imo State, expressed readiness to partner with Imo state consumer protection council to sensitize students in the state.
Lady Ibeagi, who was conspicuously elated to receive the vibrant DG in her office, promised on behalf of the Ministry of Education to render some assistance to ensure that the vision and mission of cpc is actualize. "We are willing and ready to partner with CPC to ensure that our children are fully sensitized to know their basic rights as consumers." She said.
We will work in synergy with your council to execute this project, because the programme is very important for the good upbringing of our children.
Earlier in her speech, the DG CPC, Imo State, Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor, unveiled the blueprint of the sensitization programme, designed by her agency in collaboration with IMSUBEB for all the primary schools in Imo State, both private, Missionary and government owned schools. This programme is expected to instill in the children the attitude of demanding for their rights (Right to information) like checking the NAFDAC Registration Number, Manufacturing and expiration date of any product. We want to create that consciousness in them and I believe by the end of this programme, the children will be our foot soldiers in this fight against fake and expired products.
This is a Special Consumer Education project for all the primary schools in Imo State, captioned *"shared prosperity catch them young initiative"* with the aim of educating the pupils on their basic rights as consumers. There will a debate competition with star prizes for the overall best performed primary school.
The DG also stated that CPC has the mandate of addressing consumers complaints, provides consumer education and enforce quality standards in order to safeguard the interests of consumers. The Government of Senator Hope Uzodimma has 3R mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery, we at CPC Imo State has our own 3'R' of Repair, Replace or Refund in any transaction you are shortchanged. We also have our 3'S' if you See, Say, CPC will Sort it out.
